Village in north-east Bavaria and the site of a Nazi concentration camp. Dietrich Bonhoeffer and four officers of the German resistance were tried there by an SS court-martial on 8 April 1945 and hanged the next morning.

The German court that later tried the prosecutor describes Flossenbürg concentration camp as lying north-east of Weiden in the Upper Palatinate. On 8 April 1945 an SS court-martial sat there, and on the morning of 9 April the five men it had condemned, Dietrich Bonhoeffer among them, were hanged (Bundesgerichtshof, judgment of 19 June 1956 (1 StR 50/56), Gründe A.I).     The pastor and theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer, held for two years for his part in the German resistance, is condemned by an SS court-martial at Flossenbürg concentration camp and hanged the next morning. His letters from prison are published in 1951.
