Frankenhausen
Town in Thuringia where a peasant army was defeated in May 1525 and Thomas Müntzer was captured.
Frankenhausen lies in northern Thuringia. The printed confession of Thomas Müntzer, dated 16 May 1525, describes him as found among “the rebellious band at Frankenhausen”, and the library that holds the pamphlet notes that it was taken after his capture in the battle there (Müntzer, Confession title of the pamphlet, with the library’s description). See the German Peasants’ War.
