The commission conducts the official theological dialogue between the Anglican Communion and the Roman Catholic Church. This statement of 1981 took up four problems that its first statement on authority had left open, among them papal infallibility. On Mary it lists a series of agreements, and then says that the dogmas of the Immaculate Conception and the Assumption are a special problem for those Anglicans who do not find the definitions sufficiently supported by Scripture. The statement is the work of the commission, not a decision of either church. See the Dogma of the Assumption of Mary and the Dogma of the Immaculate Conception.
