Assyrian Church of the EastText as published online; page copyright 2012–2022

A short statement of what the Assyrian Church of the East believes, as one of its own parishes publishes it. It names the councils of Nicaea (325) and Constantinople (381) as the ecumenical councils whose faith the church professes.

The text follows the outline of the creed, confesses two natures in Christ, fully God and fully man, lists the church’s seven sacraments, and names the Catholicos-Patriarch of Seleucia-Ctesiphon as head of its bishops. Of the councils it says that the church professes the faith and teaching of the ecumenical councils of Nicaea and Constantinople, and that it receives the synodical canons of its own patriarchs and fathers.

It is cited in this wiki only as the church’s own present-day statement of which ancient councils it professes. The Council of Ephesus of 431 is not among them. The page is a parish publication and gives no date or signature; it names Mar Awa Royel III as the reigning Catholicos-Patriarch.
