The Billy Graham Center Archives at Wheaton College hold the records of Graham’s organisation and of many of the people who worked with him. For this exhibit the archivists put the documents of the Los Angeles campaign online and drew up a chronology and a page of figures from them. Where the evidence is uncertain they say so: the story that William Randolph Hearst ordered his editors to “puff Graham” is given as what he “is supposed to have” said, and the count of children’s decisions is marked as unclear.
The exhibit is a compilation made sixty years later by the keepers of the records, not a document of 1949. See Billy Graham and Postwar Evangelicalism.
