The document puts the question whether baptism conferred by the community called “Mormons” in the vernacular is valid, and answers “Negative”. It adds that John Paul II approved the response and ordered it published, and it is signed by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger as prefect and Archbishop Tarcisio Bertone as secretary, with the date 5 June 2001.
