Jules Chomé was a Belgian lawyer and the author of La passion de Simon Kimbangu (Brussels, 1959), a book on the trial; the entry lists it among its sources. He wrote this article in 1966 for the dictionary of colonial biography published by the Belgian academy.

It is a secondary account written forty-five years after the trial by a man who held that Kimbangu was condemned for his religion. It is used in Simon Kimbangu and the Kimbanguist Church because it quotes the words of the judgment, which was not found in a public edition online, and for the course of the trial, the sentence and its commutation. Where it differs from the church’s own account, both are given.
