Chronicle of the Old College of Prague (Chronicon veteris collegiati Pragensis)

An anonymous Bohemian chronicle of the years 1419 to 1441, by a man who was present at some of the fighting. It records the campaigns of Žižka and his death in 1424, the battle of Lipany and the settlement at Jihlava.

The writer does not name himself. He speaks in the first person now and then: he barely escaped from a defeat in 1423, was taken prisoner in Prague in 1427 and rode with the Praguers into Moravia in 1428. He records events year by year with the days of the church calendar.

He is no friend of the field armies. Recording the death of Jan Žižka he adds a hostile epithet in Czech, and he blames the Taborites and the Orphans for the ruin of the country and welcomes their defeat at Lipany as the end of a band of robbers. For the settlement of 1436 he quotes the document in which the Council of Basel ordered the bishops to give communion in both kinds to those who asked for it.
