The announcement that the bishops of the Church of Greece, in extraordinary session, recognised the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s canonical right to grant autocephaly and left the recognition of the Church of Ukraine to their archbishop.
The hierarchy, the assembly of all the bishops of the Church of Greece, met in extraordinary session on Saturday 12 October 2019. The announcement reports the proposal of Archbishop Ieronymos, the finding of two synodal committees that nothing prevented recognition, and the decision.
