The brief is four sentences long and is dated at Lyon on the kalends of February in Clement’s first year. It says that King Philip and his people have deserved the pope’s favour, and that the pope does not wish any prejudice to arise to king or kingdom from “the definition or declaration” of Boniface VIII beginning Unam sanctam: they are not by it made more subject to the church than they were, and everything is to be understood as standing where it stood before.

It does not revoke the bull. It limits its effect for one kingdom, and later popes treated the two documents together.
