Coptic Synaxarium
The book of saints’ commemorations read day by day in the Coptic Orthodox Church. It is evidence for whom that church honours and how it tells their stories, not a contemporary record of the events.
The Synaxarium gives, for each day of the Coptic year, short accounts of the saints and events commemorated on it; they are read in the liturgy. The English text used here is the one published by the Coptic Orthodox Church Network.
It is cited in this wiki as a document of the Coptic Orthodox Church’s own tradition. Its entry for 7 Tout, for example, commemorates Dioscorus of Alexandria as the twenty-fifth pope of Alexandria and “the great champion of Orthodoxy”, who died in exile after refusing the Council of Chalcedon. The narratives were composed long after the persons they describe and are not used here as evidence for what happened.
