This is the formal record of the death and burial of Benedict XVI, headed in Latin Obitus, depositio et tumulatio, which the Holy See Press Office published on the day of his funeral. It gives his birth at Marktl am Inn on 16 April 1927, his ordination in 1951, his appointment as archbishop of Munich and Freising and as cardinal in 1977 and as prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in 1981, his election on 19 April 2005, the declaration of 11 February 2013 and his death on 31 December 2022.
It is a formal and commemorative text, and its judgments on his pontificate are those of the Holy See. It is used in this wiki for dates and offices.
