Documents of the Three-Self Movement: Source Materials for the Study of the Protestant Church in Communist China
Translations of the statements, reports and articles of the Chinese Protestant Three-Self Movement from 1950 to the early 1960s, made for the American National Council of Churches, with their notes on the documents and the people named in them.
The collection was made in New York from the Chinese church press, much of it from the movement’s own magazine Tian Feng. Most of what it prints is the voice of the movement’s supporters, as the editors themselves point out. It also prints Wang Mingdao’s pamphlet against the movement and the attacks on him that followed. The editors worked for the Far Eastern Office of the Division of Foreign Missions of the American National Council of Churches, and their introductions and biographical notes are written from outside China.
It is cited in this wiki for the translated documents, each under its own title, and for the editors’ notes as their own statements. See the Chinese Church under the People’s Republic.
