The commission carries on the international dialogue between the Lutheran World Federation and the Catholic Church. Its report has 245 numbered paragraphs: a sketch of Luther and the Reformation as present-day historians of both traditions describe them, a summary of what the dialogue has agreed on justification, the Eucharist, ministry, and Scripture and tradition, and at the end five “ecumenical imperatives” (paragraphs 239 to 243).
It is the report of a dialogue commission, and builds on the Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification. Its title gave the commemoration at Lund its motto. See Catholics and Lutherans Mark 500 Years of the Reformation Together.
