The report says that the conference convened at Battle Creek on 20 May 1863 and lists the delegates by state: New York, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota. It prints the constitution they adopted, whose preamble says that the delegates “hereby proceed to organize a General Conference” and whose first article names it the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. James White was chosen president and declined, and John Byington was elected in his place.

It is the meeting’s own record, published within a week. See the Millerites and the Great Disappointment.
