The delegates (“messengers”) to the Southern Baptist Convention’s annual meeting at Nashville in 2021 voted for a task force to oversee an independent investigation of the convention’s Executive Committee. The firm Guidepost Solutions carried it out, and the task force published the report on 22 May 2022.
The scope is narrow and should not be overstated. The report examines the conduct of the Executive Committee’s staff and members from 1 January 2000 to 14 June 2021: how they answered people who reported abuse, how they treated survivors, and whether they resisted reform. It is not a count of abuse in Southern Baptist churches, which are self-governing congregations. It is cited in this wiki as an official report showing that the concealment of abuse has been documented outside the Catholic Church.
