The association is a body of scholars who study genocide. In 1997 it resolved that the mass murder of Armenians in Turkey in 1915 was a case of genocide under the United Nations convention. The resolution of 2007 extends the same judgment to Assyrians and to Pontian and Anatolian Greeks and calls on the government of Turkey to acknowledge it. It is a statement of scholarly opinion made long after the events and is cited in the Destruction of the Armenian and Assyrian Christians only for the use of the term.
