The bishops in communion with the Church of England met under the archbishop of Canterbury and issued an encyclical letter dated 27 July 1888, with their resolutions and the reports of their committees. Resolution 11 is the text known as the Lambeth Quadrilateral. The report of the committee on home reunion, printed with it, explains that the committee took as its basis the articles put forward by the bishops of the American church in 1886 and submitted them “with some modifications”.
The resolutions are the statement of the bishops who passed them.
