The bishops acknowledge all who believe in Christ and have been baptized in the name of the Trinity as sharing with them membership in the universal church. Section 6 says that visible unity will involve the acceptance of the Scriptures, the Nicene Creed, the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion, and a ministry acknowledged by every part of the church. Section 7 claims the episcopate as the means of providing such a ministry, while acknowledging the spiritual reality of the ministries of churches without bishops.
