Resolution 115 says that family planning, “in such ways as are mutually acceptable to husband and wife in Christian conscience”, is a right and important factor in Christian family life and should be the result of positive choice before God. It adds that such responsible parenthood requires a wise stewardship of the family’s resources and thought for the needs of society and of future generations. The conference of 1968 quoted the resolution in full when it replied to Humanae vitae.

Like all Lambeth resolutions it expresses the mind of the bishops present and binds no member church. See Humanae Vitae.
