The Lateran Pacts: Treaty, Financial Convention and Concordat between the Holy See and Italy
The three agreements signed in Rome on 11 February 1929 by Cardinal Gasparri and Benito Mussolini. The treaty created the State of Vatican City and closed the Roman question; the concordat regulated the position of the Catholic Church in Italy.
The page gives the full text of the treaty in 27 articles, the financial convention in 3 and the concordat in 45, with the list of annexes. The treaty names its two plenipotentiaries, Pietro Gasparri for Pius XI and Benito Mussolini for King Victor Emmanuel III, and required ratification by pope and king within four months; the ratifications were exchanged on 7 June 1929.
These are the legal texts themselves. They are cited in the Lateran Treaty Creates Vatican City for what the two parties agreed, not for how the agreements worked in practice.
