The Restoration of the Fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ: A Bicentennial Proclamation to the World
A proclamation issued by the presiding councils of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints two hundred years after Joseph Smith’s first vision. It states in the church’s own words what it holds about its origin.
The proclamation is issued in the name of the First Presidency and the Council of the Twelve Apostles, and a note at its end says that the church’s president, Russell M. Nelson, read it at the general conference in Salt Lake City on 5 April 2020. It affirms that God the Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith, that heavenly messengers restored authority to him, and that the church organized on 6 April 1830 “is Christ’s New Testament Church restored”.
It is cited in Joseph Smith and the Latter-day Saints as the church’s present statement of how it understands itself.
