Leo XIV spoke on Friday 28 November 2025 at İznik in Türkiye. He says that the faith of Nicaea in Christ, “consubstantial with the Father”, is shared by all Christian churches and communities, including those that do not use the creed in worship, and thanks Bartholomew I for deciding to hold the commemoration where the council met.

The booklet printed for the service is the Holy See’s own and shows the order of prayer: who took part, the reading from John 17, the pope’s address, and the profession of faith introduced by the patriarch. It is evidence for what was planned and printed, and this wiki cites it for the wording of the creed it prints. See the Churches Mark 1,700 Years since Nicaea.
