A History of the Church of Russia
A history of the Russian church to the founding of the Holy Synod, written in 1838 by an official of that Synod. It is cited for the letter of Patriarch Jeremias III of Constantinople of 23 September 1723, which it prints in full, and for its author’s own account, named as such.
The title page describes the author as chamberlain to the emperor and under-procurator of the Most Holy Governing Synod. He writes more than a century after the events of 1721 and as a servant of the institution whose founding he describes, which he presents as a needed reform approved by the whole eastern church. His narrative is therefore a later and interested account, and where the wiki uses it the text says so.
At pages 287 and 288 he gives the letter in which Jeremias, patriarch of Constantinople, recognises the Russian Synod, dated 23 September 1723. The wording quoted in the wiki is that of Blackmore’s English translation. Muravyov does not say from what copy he prints it.
