The page is the awarding body’s own record. It gives King’s birth as 15 January 1929 at Atlanta, Georgia, and his death as 4 April 1968 at Memphis, Tennessee, and quotes the reason for the prize: his non-violent struggle for civil rights for the Afro-American population.
The same site reprints the biographical note from the official volume of Nobel lectures, which records that King became pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery in 1954, was elected president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in 1957, and from 1960 was co-pastor with his father of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta. The note is an editor’s summary, not a document of King’s own.
Both pages are cited in this wiki only for dates, offices and the fact and stated reason of the award.
