The series was written by Protopresbyter Thomas Hopko, professor of dogmatic theology and dean of Saint Vladimir’s Seminary. The Orthodox Church in America publishes it on its website, with a preface by its metropolitan, as basic information on the faith and life of the Orthodox Church. It has no authority beyond that church, and other Orthodox churches would word some things differently. Its chapter on the feast of the Dormition says what the feast commemorates and where the belief comes from. See the Dogma of the Assumption of Mary.
