Paul VI spoke to the participants of the movement’s third international congress, held in Rome. He welcomed their wish to stand within the Church, described the spiritual renewal he saw in many places, and asked how it could fail to be a “chance” for the Church and the world. He then set out three principles from Paul’s letters for testing spiritual gifts: fidelity to the authentic teaching of the faith, gratitude for all gifts as given for the common good, and above all love.
