The bull is dated at Rome, at St Mary Major, on 7 August 1814, in the fifteenth year of Pius VII’s pontificate. Its first sections tell how former Jesuits in the Russian Empire, supported by the emperor Paul I, obtained the pope’s leave in 1801 to live again as a congregation of the Society, and how the same leave was given for the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies in 1804. Section 7 extends these grants to the Papal States and to all other states, section 8 gives the general, whom the Italian text names as Taddeo Borzozowski, power to receive members everywhere, and section 12 derogates from Dominus ac Redemptor.

It is the pope’s own account of the steps by which the suppression was reversed, written by the man who took them.
