Schaff prints the five positive articles in three columns, Dutch, Latin and English, and says in his note that he omits the preface, the five negative articles and the conclusion of the original document. The closing sentence that he does give says that the Remonstrants hold these articles to agree with the Word of God and to be sufficient for salvation on this subject, “so that it is not necessary or edifying to rise higher or to descend deeper”.

Two points of wording matter. In the third article Schaff’s English reads “saving grace” where the Dutch and the Latin both have “saving faith”; this wiki follows the Dutch and Latin. The fifth article does not deny that believers can fall away: it says that the question needs to be examined further from Scripture before the authors can teach on it with full conviction. The articles are cited in the Synod of Dort as the Remonstrants’ own words.
