The Syro-Malabar Church is one of the churches of the Thomas Christians of Kerala and is in communion with Rome. This page of its eparchy for Australia opens by saying that the church traces its origin to St Thomas the Apostle, who came to India in AD 52, and that its members are called St Thomas Christians.

The chronology that follows gives AD 52 for the apostle’s landing at Cranganore (Kodungallur) and 3 July 72 for his martyrdom at Mylapore in Chennai. It also lists a visit by Pantaenus of Alexandria in 190 and the grant of the Tarisappalli copper plates in 849. The page states these dates without naming its sources. It is a primary source for the tradition as the church teaches it, and is cited in that sense only; see the Apostle Thomas and the Christians of India.
