We, Because of Faith
The pamphlet in which the Beijing pastor Wang Mingdao explained why he would not join the Three-Self Patriotic Movement. His ground is doctrinal. He calls its leaders modernists who deny the faith.
Wang Mingdao published the pamphlet in Beijing in June 1955. The editors of the collection in which the translation appears describe him as the pastor of an independent church, the Christian Tabernacle, who fought the movement openly. His argument is that its leaders are modernists who reject the great doctrines of the Bible, that such people are unbelievers, and that believers cannot unite with them. He ends by declaring that he and those with him will not join any of their organisations.
