The Journal of John Wesley
John Wesley’s own record of his travels, preaching and inner life, which he extracted from his diary for publication. It is the main source for his voyage to Georgia, his experience in Aldersgate Street in May 1738 and the beginning of field preaching at Bristol in 1739.
Wesley explains in his preface, quoted by the editor, that he transcribed the more material parts of his diary, adding reflections here and there, and that the printed Journal is an extract from that. The first entry in this edition is his departure for Georgia in October 1735. The entries give his own side of his disputes, and include letters in which he answers objections.
The edition linked here is a selection from the published Journal. See John Wesley and the Rise of Methodism.
