John Mott
General secretary of the World’s Student Christian Federation, who chaired the first commission and the day sessions of the World Missionary Conference at Edinburgh in 1910 and then its Continuation Committee.
The record of the conference names Mott, of New York, as chairman of its first commission, on carrying the gospel to all the non-Christian world (World Missionary Conference, 1910, vol. 9, p. 11). It gives his post as general secretary of the World’s Student Christian Federation and says that the delegates chose him unanimously to chair the day sessions at which the commission reports were debated (World Missionary Conference, 1910, vol. 9, p. 23). When the conference ended, the Continuation Committee it had appointed elected him chairman (World Missionary Conference, 1910, vol. 9, p. 135). See the World Missionary Conference at Edinburgh.
