City in western Pennsylvania and seat of the Catholic Duquesne University. A retreat of its students at a house outside the city in February 1967 is counted as the beginning of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal.

Duquesne University stands in Pittsburgh. In February 1967 about twenty-five of its students made a retreat at The Ark and The Dove, a retreat house on the outskirts of the city, and one of them has described what happened there (Mansfield, testimony on the Duquesne Weekend).     The Charismatic Renewal

    Speaking in tongues and other gifts associated with Pentecostalism appear in the older churches. An Episcopal rector in California tells his parish of his experience in 1960, and Catholics date their charismatic renewal from a retreat of students near Pittsburgh in 1967.
