City on the Taedong river in northern Korea. In January 1907 its Presbyterian churches were the scene of a revival, and the Presbytery of Korea was constituted there that September.

Pyongyang, written Pyeng Yang by the missionaries of the time, is today the capital of North Korea. In January 1907 its four Presbyterian churches met together in the Central Church, which held about fifteen hundred people (The Korea Mission Field vol. 3 no. 3 (March 1907), p. 33 (Graham Lee)); see the Pyongyang Revival. The Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in Korea was constituted in the same building on 17 September 1907 (The Korea Mission Field vol. 3 no. 11 (November 1907), p. 162).

    The Pyongyang Revival

    At a winter Bible class in Pyongyang in January 1907, hundreds of Korean Presbyterian men pray aloud together and confess their sins in public through two nights. Those who were there carry the revival to churches across Korea.
