Van Nuys is a district of Los Angeles in the San Fernando Valley. Dennis Bennett was rector of St Mark’s Church there, and under him its membership grew from about 500 to 2,500 by 1960 (An Episcopal Dictionary of the Church, Bennett, Dennis Joseph). The Episcopal Church’s dictionary names St Mark’s among several Californian parishes where a Pentecostal experience was reported in 1959 (An Episcopal Dictionary of the Church, Charismatic Renewal, or Neo-Pentecostalism).
