The Concordat of Worms
Two short charters exchanged at Worms in 1122. The emperor gives up investiture with ring and staff and allows free election; the pope lets elections in Germany take place in the emperor’s presence and lets him confer the regalia by the sceptre.

The agreement consists of two documents, one issued by each side: a privilege of Pope Callixtus II for the emperor and an edict of Henry V (emperor) for the church. The emperor’s charter names the princes by whose counsel it was made. The name “concordat” is later; the texts speak of peace.
The Avalon Project page heads the emperor’s charter “Edict of the Emperor Henry IV”. That is a slip: the emperor of 1122 was Henry V, who in the text itself speaks of the time “of my father”.
