Dobrotolubiye (Slavonic Philokalia)
The Church Slavonic version of the Philokalia, printed at Moscow in May 1793 by order of the empress Catherine and with the blessing of the Holy Synod. Its title leaf fixes the date and place of printing.
The title leaf says that the book, Dobrotolubiye, or words and chapters of sacred watchfulness, gathered from the writings of the holy and God-inspired fathers, was printed in the reigning city of Moscow by command of the empress Catherine and with the blessing of the Most Holy Governing Synod, in the year 7301 from the creation of the world and 1793 from the birth of Christ, in the eleventh indiction, in the month of May. It names no translator. The attribution of the translation to Paisius Velichkovsky rests on the Russian editors of his writings in 1847 (see Life and Writings of the Moldavian Elder Paisius Velichkovsky).
