Michael von Faulhaber kept a diary of his visitors and journeys from 1911 until his death. The online edition gives a transcription of each entry with the editors’ notes identifying the people named; its home page names the Institute for Contemporary History in Munich, the University of Münster and the archive of the archdiocese as the bodies behind it. The edition also carries a short biography written by its editors, which is cited in this wiki only for dates and offices and for the editors’ statement about his part in the encyclical of 1937.

The entries are terse and were not written for publication. The one cited in Mit brennender Sorge: Pius XI on the Church in the German Reich records his stay in Rome in January 1937.
