History of Joseph Smith (about 1832)
A six-page manuscript history of Joseph Smith’s early life, dated by its editors to about the summer of 1832. It contains an account of his first vision that is earlier than, and differs from, the one in his history of 1838.
On its third page the manuscript says that Smith, calling on the Lord “in the 16th year of my age”, saw a pillar of light, and continues: “I saw the Lord and he spake unto me saying Joseph my son thy sins are forgiven thee”. The words giving his age are an insertion; the editors’ note at that place says that they are in the hand of Frederick G. Williams.
The account names one figure, “the Lord”, where the history begun in 1838 speaks of two Personages. The wiki reports both as Joseph Smith’s accounts; see Joseph Smith and the Latter-day Saints.
