Osiander reached Marburg on the afternoon of Saturday 2 October 1529 and reports the morning’s debate from what others told him and the rest from what he saw. He gives the arguments in order, the passages of Scripture each side used, and the private negotiations on the Monday from which the Marburg Articles came.

He writes as one of Martin Luther’s supporters to masters who shared his view, and his judgement of Huldrych Zwingli is hostile throughout. Zwingli’s own account, in a letter to a friend, is in Letters.
